Our KA1 Erasmus+ project

ERASMUS KA101/2020

Funding: € 74,191, 00

The institute Aldeno-Mattarello is a grouping of four primary schools and two secondary schools, attended by about 900 students and 140 teachers.

Through this project, we plan to innovate and internationalize our curriculum, the organization and auxiliary services of the institute, to support the students learning and their well-being. We intend to network with other schools and educational institutions at provincial, national and international levels, to share practices and encourage the circularity of skills, to face the training needs of the school and its community and prepare future European citizens.

Six new 4.0 classrooms are under construction in a secondary school of ours, where it will be possible to implement digital/laboratory learning; this requires a serious preparation and specialized teaching skills, that will be capitalized to adapt/create new learning environments throughout our schools.

There will be 31 participants: 2 units of staff and teachers of our primary and secondary schools of all disciplines, with a knowledge of English from B1 to C2 level, who will be trained in the following five distinct areas:

1. open teaching methodologies

2. digital skills

3. integrated teaching of STEM disciplines

4. CLIL teaching

5. leadership, communication, collaboration, team building, project management, mentoring, EU project management, etc.

Our institute will deliver preparation courses for mobilities: there will be English classes of B1, B2 and C1 level and five methodology courses for each group of participants previously described, in order to create a platform of knowledge and promote skills related to those that will be developed abroad.

The mobility courses will aim at fostering advanced skills in the above indicated areas, in order to:

- acquire new student-centred educational approaches, focusing on key transversal skills, and on personalized teaching

- revise the vertical planning of the curriculum, embedding citizenship and digital skills

- generate a repertoire of lesson plans/modules and the related learning objects throughout the curriculum

- support the creation of new learning environments

- increase the standardized national tests (INVALSI) results of the students, aligning them to the average of the Autonomous Province of Trento

- increase in the number of teachers involved in middle management or in specific responsibilities, under the age of 40, who will replace the many teachers close to retirement

- gain EU project management skills with the perspective of finding foreign partners and applying for KA2 projects in the near future

- maintain and enhance the CLIL teaching offer regulated in the “Trentino Trilingual Plan”

- maintain / increase the number of eTwinning projects in our schools

- Increase the number and levels of language certifications of pupils and teachers.

The participants will be engaged in an action-research process, working as subgroups of interest/disciplines and as a whole, to disseminate the resources and the results of their training among the other teachers and pupils, in a systemic approach.

Evaluation will be conducted across ex-ante, intermediate and ex-post phases and will assess the quality of the project contents, the adherence to the identified needs, the achievement of the set objectives, the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results, the methodologies adopted, the quality of internal and external communication, the collaborative process and the organizational management of the project.

The dissemination and exploitation of results plans will be carried out inside and outside the institute, through communications to the teachers and parents boards, through articles and reports on the school website, on dedicated national and international educational portals, and by participating in meetings, conferences, etc..

The impact will be analysed considering the effect produced by the project on teachers, students, non-teaching stuffs, parents, etc, and on the system to evaluate its sustainability and provide any corrections and redesigns. Impact instruments will be qualitative (increase of skills, sense of self-efficacy, involvement of the participants, etc.) and quantitative data (increase in exams/testing results, number/level of language certifications gained by students and teachers, etc.) considered in the short and long term.

The project was supposed to last two years, however the deadline was prolonged to December 2023, due to the pandemic.
