English version: murales Agenda 2030

The project has implied the realization of a multi-handed pictorial representation on an outdoor wall (=mural) inspired by four of the 2030 goals from the Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 2030 Agenda is an action programme signed in September 2015 by the governments of 193 UN member states. It incorporates 17 Development Goals that countries have committed to achieve by 2030.

The four chosen goals are:

NO POVERTY (Goal #1)
GENDER EQUALITY (goal no. 5)
CLIMATE ACTION (goal no. 13)
LIFE BELOW WATER (goal no. 14)

It was conceived and realized by the lower secondary school students of the Istituto Comprensivo Aldeno Mattarello (age 11-13) in the school fence wall. The aims linked to such a project were:

to enable students to actively and consciously live their European citizenship;
to communicate, stimulate reflections, and involve citizens in the implementation of some Agenda 2030’s goals;
to involve students in actions for caring about common areas.

The project originated within the fourth edition of the Institute project 'STRA-BENE', from a proposal formulated by the Student Parliament, a consultative body composed by students’ representatives with the aim of stimulating their active participation in school life. It was funded by the IStituto Comprensivo Aldeno-Mattarello and the Municipality of Trento.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION PHASES

choice of objectives to be represented (brainstorming, discussions, viewing videos and images, use of teaching sheets on the 2030 Agenda)
design proposals (elaboration of sketches)
choice of final designs (by voting);
realisation of the final sketches in real size;
study of painting techniques;
application of a gesso layer to prime the wall to be painted;
realisation of the drawings;
colouring and definition of details.
